cryptact launches CLI for you and your AI agent

Bringing industry-leading crypto tax calculation to automated and agentic workflows

cryptact, the crypto tax platform operated by pafin Inc., today released a command-line interface (CLI) that gives developers and power users direct access to its profit-and-loss calculation engine. The tool works from any terminal and is compatible with AI coding environments such as Claude Code.

The cryptact CLI lets users upload exchange files, trigger gain-and-loss calculations, search transaction histories, and export results without leaving the command line. The same commands can be invoked by AI coding tools, trading scripts, and automated workflows.

cryptact will also release a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server in April 2026, enabling non-technical users to interact with cryptact through chat-based AI assistants.

Background

Accurate cryptocurrency tax reporting demands deep expertise in both blockchain technology and national tax codes. cryptact has spent eight years encoding that expertise into a calculation engine that aggregates data from over 175 sources — including major exchanges and blockchains — and computes realized gains and losses under the tax rules of Japan, Canada, and India.

As AI-powered tools become a standard part of everyday workflows, the company has packaged that engine into interfaces that AI tools can call directly — starting with the CLI released today.

How It Works

Users authenticate once via OAuth in their browser, after which the cryptact CLI stores credentials locally.
