Use cases
16 cryptact MCP use cases
From importing transaction history and resolving invalid transactions to analyzing P&L and scheduling reports, copy the one that matches what you want to do. For an overview of the feature, how to choose between MCP and CLI, and data security, see AI Integration (CLI & MCP).
File upload (exchange)
Just upload your transaction history file in the AI chat, and it gets imported into cryptact.
Who it's forUsers who want an AI agent to calculate P&L based on files downloaded from exchanges.
Upload the attached file to cryptact.
File upload (bulk upload across multiple exchanges)
Ask the AI agent to upload files from several exchanges all at once.
Who it's forIf you trade on several exchanges, hunting for and selecting the right upload box for each one is tedious, so upload them all at once instead.
Upload my transaction history to cryptact.
Automate custom file creation and upload for unsupported transaction histories
Automatically build a custom file from a screenshot of your transaction history and upload it to cryptact.
Who it's forUsers who trade on exchanges not supported by cryptact and need to create the file themselves.
Upload my transaction history to cryptact as a custom file. Refer to cryptact's help page for how to create a custom file. Enter the service name in the Source field.
Diagnose insufficient-position causes and auto-resolve by uploading a custom file
Analyze coin shortfalls that arise during cryptact's calculation in a conversational flow, and clear them efficiently.
Who it's forUsers hit with several insufficient-position errors right before tax filing, unsure where to start, with their P&L calculation stalled.
For the coins with insufficient quantities in cryptact, please investigate whether there are any insufficient-position errors that can be resolved in a chain. Then create a custom file (User.Custom) treating them as purchases at the market price as of , and upload it to resolve the insufficient positions. Set the Source to "Insufficient position fix". Ask me if there's anything unclear.
Bulk-resolve unidentified DeFi transactions
Bulk-approve cryptact's auto-generated classification suggestions for unidentified DeFi transactions and display a breakdown of transaction types after approval.
Who it's forFrequent DeFi traders with hundreds of accumulated unidentified transactions that are impractical to process via the UI.
Please update the EVM wallets in cryptact to the latest state. Approve the DeFi classification suggestions and complete the reflection in the P&L. Once done, show me the number of transactions by chain and by type in a table. If anything fails partway through, stop there and tell me what happened.
Bulk exclusion of scam tokens
Auto-detect scam tokens → confirm → bulk-exclude execution.
Who it's forUsers whose wallets have received a large number of suspicious tokens, making it difficult to exclude them from P&L calculations.
In cryptact, please list the tokens that are likely to be scams and explain the basis for the determination. If there appear to be no issues, process them in bulk with defi_mark_risky, then run a DeFi sync to apply the changes.
Explanation of realized P&L calculation under the Periodic Average Cost method
AI analyzes and explains how your P&L is calculated.
Who it's forYour realized P&L under the Periodic Average Cost method feels different from what you expected, and you want to understand why.
Retrieve the actual data from my ledger via cryptact's MCP and explain how the P&L is calculated. The calculation method is Periodic Average Cost. Why does it differ from the profit/loss at the time of sale?
Explanation of average acquisition cost changes from lending rewards (Periodic Average Cost)
Explains how periodically received lending rewards affect the average acquisition cost under the Periodic Average Cost method.
Who it's forUsers who want to understand the relationship between lending rewards and average acquisition cost.
Retrieve the actual data from my ledger via cryptact's MCP and explain how lending rewards change my average acquisition cost.
Detailed transaction filtering and analysis
Filter and analyze transactions using conditions not available in cryptact's UI.
Who it's forUsers running bot trades, recurring purchases, or other specific transaction types.
From my transaction history in cryptact, extract only the transactions excluding buy/sell trades on , and calculate the P&L from those transactions.
Scheduled news reports on held assets
Periodically collects relevant news based on your overall portfolio managed on cryptact.
Who it's forUsers who want to efficiently collect news on their held assets.
Create a recurring task that collects the past week's news on my top holdings in cryptact, sorted into positive and risk categories. Target assets: excluding stablecoins Schedule: Deliverable: compiled in docx format (English) Please prioritize highly reliable media outlets and influencers as sources.
Scheduled weekly data updates
Automates API sync and turns realized-P&L reporting (based on transaction details and average acquisition costs) along with calculation-error checks into a recurring scheduled task.
Who it's forUsers who heavily use API-integrated exchanges and want to automate weekly transaction data updates and portfolio reviews.
Please set up weekly cryptact maintenance as a recurring task. (1) Execute API sync for all exchanges. (2) Refresh the portfolio. (3) Report any remaining sync errors, unidentified transactions, and calculation errors. Ask me if there's anything unclear.
Auto-generation of monthly performance reports (recurring end-of-month summary)
References your portfolio on cryptact and outputs the month's trading results as a formatted report.
Who it's forActive users who want to review portfolio performance at the end of each month and track month-over-month changes in a standard format.
Using the cryptact MCP, create last month's performance report and output it as a docx. Before creating the report, please sync all APIs and wallets. Include: (1) last month's transaction count and trading volume, (2) last month's realized P&L (top 5 by asset), (3) current unrealized P&L with month-over-month change, (4) a trend watch (factual reporting on price movements of held assets and market trends). No buy/sell recommendations needed. Please set it up as a recurring task that runs automatically on the .
Calculate effective fee rates by exchange
The cryptact UI only shows total fee amounts. The AI tool divides by trading volume to derive effective cost rates and directly compares efficiency across exchanges.
Who it's forUsers who trade on multiple exchanges and want to identify which is effectively the most expensive on an annual basis to narrow down their main venue.
In cryptact, aggregate this year's trading fees by exchange and calculate the effective cost rate using "annual fees ÷ annual trading volume". Sort by worst cost efficiency and propose adjustments to my main trading venue.
P&L contribution ranking by DeFi protocol
Compare and analyze profitability by dApps based on accurate realized P&L, including exchange transactions.
Who it's forUsers active across multiple DeFi protocols. Want to evaluate profitability by protocol to decide whether to exit or continue.
In cryptact, group DeFi transactions by dApps (Uniswap / Curve / Aave / GMX, etc.) and rank this year's P&L contributions. Flag any protocols that are clearly loss-making.
Tax-saving review and unrealized-loss harvesting proposals
References your actual portfolio on cryptact to evaluate realizing losses and reducing taxable income.
Who it's forUsers who are in the green this year and want to ask "is there any way to save on taxes?"
Check my P&L for this year in cryptact. Since I'm in the green, please tell me any tax-saving measures I can still take this year.
Bot trade sell decisions using average acquisition cost
Incorporates the acquisition cost calculated by cryptact into the bot's buy/sell decisions for accurate P&L.* Acquisition cost cannot be determined from a single exchange alone.
Who it's forUsers already running bot trades, or those looking to start with AI-assisted development.
Let's work through the design of an automated BTC trading bot. The target is spot on . Cost basis: Global FIFO across all exchanges and DEX. The bot retrieves the per-unit acquisition cost from cryptact's MCP (portfolio_show → averageCost for BTC). The cryptact ledger MUST be configured with FIFO as its cost-basis method so that the returned averageCost reflects FIFO, not moving-average. Buy: if the price drops versus 24 hours ago, buy worth at market. Once per day maximum. Sell: if the price rises versus 24 hours ago AND the current price is above the FIFO acquisition cost retrieved from cryptact, sell worth at market. Once per day maximum. Use the acquisition cost solely as a profitability filter — never sell at a loss relative to the FIFO cost basis. Do not place buys that would push the net deployed amount (cumulative buy fills − cumulative sell fills) above . After every buy or sell fill, upload the transaction to cryptact (or ensure the Coinbase API sync captures it) so the FIFO cost basis stays current for the next retrieval. Assume duplicate-order prevention, exchange status and spread checks, a kill switch, and a dry-run mode are all included. Start with the design, not the code. Ask me if there's anything that needs to be decided first.
* Figures and assets in example responses are illustrative. Actual output depends on your transaction data. For final tax decisions, consult a tax accountant.

When having an AI agent create transaction records via custom files, it may independently determine values such as dates, quantities, and prices. To avoid filing a tax return based on inaccurate P&L figures, provide specific instructions or instruct the agent with "do not fill in unknown fields on your own; always ask me first," and verify all generated content before use.
