The deal unites automated capital-gains calculation with accounting journal-entry tools, serving individual investors, tax professionals, and corporate users on a single platform.

cryptact, the crypto tax platform used by more than 200,000 investors and operated by pafin Inc., today announced it has completed the acquisition of Gtax, a competing crypto profit-and-loss calculation service operated by Gtax Inc. The two services will unite under the cryptact brand on October 5, 2026. Existing Gtax users will move to cryptact without re-registration, keeping their login credentials, transaction data, and profit-and-loss records intact.
Japan’s digital asset market has expanded significantly in recent years, driven by growing participation from institutional investors and the continued development of Web3 policy frameworks. As trading has diversified across decentralized finance (DeFi), non-fungible tokens (NFTs), staking, and Layer 2 networks, tax reporting across multiple exchanges and wallets has grown more complex. cryptact and Gtax have each long supported the Japanese crypto community with complementary strengths — cryptact with its large, active user community, and Gtax with a strong following among individual investors, tax accountants, and corporate clients.

Service Integration

cryptact automatically calculates capital gains from imported transaction data and provides everything needed for tax filing in a single workflow. Gtax stands out for its accounting journal-entry functionality and an interface built for first-time investors, along with dedicated support for tax professionals and corporate clients.
On the integration date, Gtax users will sign in to cryptact with their existing credentials, and all transaction history and profit-and-loss results will be carried over. Gtax’s tax filing support business, Guardian, will be assumed and continued by pafin Inc. Members of the Gtax team are also expected to join pafin, continuing service development on pafin’s technology foundation.

Executive Comments

“cryptact and Gtax have each supported the practical needs of Japan’s crypto investors and tax professionals for many years, and bringing them together creates greater value for users. We will build on this integration to remove the burden of tax filing so users can focus on what matters — managing and growing their assets,” said Gaku Saito, Co-CEO of pafin Inc.

“Joining forces with the industry leader removes the biggest barrier for crypto investors — complex tax calculation. By combining the expertise of both services, we can let investors focus on trading and growing their assets with confidence. I am also deeply grateful to the users and partners who supported Gtax’s growth, and I look forward to the value this integration will create,” said Keisuke Okada, Director of Gtax Inc.

Looking Ahead

pafin Inc. will use the Gtax acquisition as a milestone toward a unified platform, delivered through cryptact, that supports crypto profit-and-loss calculation, tax processing, and asset management end to end. The company will continue expanding coverage for newer transaction types — including DeFi, NFTs, staking, and Layer 2 networks — and will apply the combined expertise of both teams to respond quickly to changes in tax regulation.
Through these steps, cryptact aims to become the de facto standard in crypto tax calculation for individual investors, tax professionals, and corporate users alike. A detailed migration schedule and transition support plan for existing Gtax users will be announced ahead of the integration date.
